The dance performance of the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble, which is in keeping with the Easter celebrations, draws on the liturgy of different denominations as well as on the ancient folk traditions and songs of the Carpathian Basin's remote regions. Both those related to Christianity and those evoking the pagan period are intertwined to form a unified stage performance.
The exciting musical background of the performance includes not only customary songs, folk songs, religious folk melodies and dance tunes, but also religious hymns associated with the feast days, be they Roman Catholic, Reformed, Greek Catholic, Greek Orthodox or even archaic folk prayers.
