Exhibition of the XXXII. Antal Kapoli Sr. Carving Competition

The most prestigious national competition of carvings has been organized since 1957.
The competition was originally announced for carvers following the tradition of shepherd art, which was hallmarked by the name of late Antal Kapoli Sr., Kossuth Prize winner carver, a Master of Folk Arts. For many years, a significant part of application works had been made in the spirit of his art in the competition organizted for his memory. Nowadays, the peasant carving tradition has become very popular among carvers, too; and, besides folk sculpture, the tradition-based, yet ingenious and innovative creations have gained space, as well.
The aim of the competition is to make folk art objects of outstanding niveau, meeting today’s taste by using and further developing the Hungarian folk carving art.
The exhibition organized of the most beautiful objects received for the 2019 competition will be opened on 14 June, 2019 at 13:00 and will await the visitors until 9 August.
The curator of the application and the exhibition is: Zoltán Csákányi
Implementer of the exhibition: Piroska Pintér, Éva Ament
