We bring You collections, decade-long recordings and archive material that is still very much relevant today; and dancers who continue to inspire us. We would like to present our favourite recordings: explain the inspiration and story behind our choreography.
Storyteller(s):
János Hidi and Borbála Balogh (1956, Nagydobrony)
Performed by:
Máté Módos, laureate of the Golden Spur award (örökös Aranysarkanytús), Best Young Dance Artist of 2015, Junior Prima Award laureate, winner of the “Most Cheerful Choreography Award” at the 25th National Folk Dance Festival in Szolnok; Berta Csilla Almási, laureate of the Golden Pearl (Aranygyöngyös) and Viktor Fülöp Dance Fellowship award.
"We first introduced the Nagydobrony dances in our programme Transcarpathia Invoked. Since then, we have visited the village and collected local pieces several times, organized the Nagydobrony Dance Festival for Elders (“Nagydobronyi szépkorúak bálja”), and danced along Józsefné Badó Erzsébet Géci, one of the last masters of these dances.
The inner dance culture of the village has mesmerized us from the very beginning. The “switch” style, which makes the Nagydobrony csárdás so unique, is a characteristic feature of this partner dance."
Collected by:
Ilona Jakab, Anna Gábor, György Martin, Ferenc Pesovár
