Exactly 50 years ago, on May 6, 1972, the first urban dance house in Hungary was held in Liszt Ferenc Square, hosted by the Writers' Guild. On this anniversary we celebrate - as a tradition by now - the Dance House Day all over the country. This year, the Hungarian Heritage House and the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music are planning a major folk music concert to mark the anniversary, encompassing the most famous pieces of the Hungarian folklore movement over the past half century. The programme features the most important folk music ensembles and soloists of different generations, from the Muzsikás Band to the young performers of today. In addition to the Hungarian dance house bands, the programme shall feature ethnic folk music ensembles, bands from across the border, the most prominent masters of pastoral and bordone instruments, as well as string bands.
